Jesus Heals the Sick in Gennesaret

53 hWhen they had crossed over, they came to land at iGennesaret and moored to the shore. 54 And when they got out of the boat, the people immediately jrecognized him 55 and ran about the whole region and began to bring kthe sick people lon their beds to wherever they heard he was. 56 And wherever he came, in villages, cities, or countryside, mthey laid the sick in the marketplaces and implored him that they might touch even nthe fringe of his garment. And oas many as touched it were made well.

53절) 앞서 예수님께서는 벳세다(막 6:45)로 가기를 원하셨다. 하지만 강한 바람으로 배는 목적지를 바꿔서 게네사렛 땅에 도착한 것이다. 북동풍의 바람이 불었고 따라서 남서쪽에 위치한 이곳에 도착한 것이다. 

- Gennesaret, also called Gennesar,60 is a fertile plain about one mile wide and three miles long at the northwest corner of Lake Galilee. There may have been a village by the same name, but there is no evidence for that. Why the boat came to Gennesaret rather than Bethsaida is not explained, but Mark’s location of the landing has led some to conjecture the existence of another Bethsaida on the northwestern shore.

54절) 예수님께서 배에서 내리시자 이곳 사람들이 예수님을 알아보고 예수님께 나아왔다. 지금 마가는 예수님을 알아보지 못한 제자들과 예수님을 알아보고 나아오는 이곳 사람들을 대비시키고 있는 것이다.

55-56절) 이들은 온 지방을 돌아다니며 예수님이 어디 계시다는 이야기를 듣는대로 병자들을 침상째로 메고 그분께 나아왔다. 그리고 그 곳에 병자를 두고 예수님께 당신의 옷의 일부분 장식이라도 만질 수 있기를 간구했고 그렇게 손을 대는 자마다 다 나음을 얻게 되었다. 혹자들은 에수님의 옷에 능력이 있다고 착각하기도 했다. 하지만 앞서 혈루증 앓는 여인이 나음을 얻은 것이 예수님의 옷자락에 능력이 있어서가 아니라 나음을 얻을 것이라는 그녀의 믿음에 있었던 것임을 우리는 알 수 있다. 본문의 성함을 얻다라는 단어는 ‘소조’라는 헬라어 단어로 구원하다, 나음을 얻다, 구출되다라는 의미를 가지고 있다. 여기에서 ‘소테리아’, 구원이라는 단어가 나왔다. 

- Some have tried to see magic in the touching of Jesus’ garments, but the statement needs to be read in light of 5:25–34, where faith was the cause of the healing of the woman who touched Jesus’ garments. The “edge of his cloak” probably was the tassel that pious Jews wore in accordance with Num 15:38–41 and Deut 22:12. The word translated “healed” is again the one often translated “saved.” Mark probably saw in physical healing a sign of spiritual healing.
